10 Mexico City Instagrammers You Should be Following

10 Mexico City Instagrammers You Should be Following

Sharing is caring!

I love following people on Instagram who live in a place I’m planning a trip to. I try to find food bloggers who recommend great restaurants and lifestyle bloggers who share photos of their favorite things to do their home city. This is even great for places I’ve been to before like New York or the UK.

It only recently occurred to me how much I could learn from Mexico City Instagrammers. I scoured the app to find food bloggers, travel bloggers, digital nomads, artists, writers, and a few people who just love their city. Since I started following them I’ve found SO MANY cool cafes, bars, restaurants, and street food vendors in Mexico City that I would never have found otherwise.

Now it’s time to share all of my favorites with you. These Mexico City Instagrammers offer up the best visuals, Instagram stories, and captions that will make your next trip to Mexico City even better. The best thing about Instagram? You don’t really need to know much Spanish to get the gist of things. It’s all about the photos!

Mexico City Instagrammers That I Love

Taco de Ojo

@tacodeojo.food is a great account to follow if you want to see the best places to eat around Mexico City as well as some mouthwatering food photos. I have found some really great cafes in Mexico City from following this account. The owner of the account also tags the restaurant in the photo so you can find it easily.

Lanzgg

@lanzgg is one of the biggest Mexico City Instagrammers out there. It’s a nice account for those that don’t know much about the city or are looking for the artistic side. The photos highlight different neighborhoods, architecture around the city, and some really excellent street art. They highlight some of the nicer boutique hotels in the city pretty regularly, too.

Miss Sputnik

@miss_sputnik_ is another big Mexico City Instagrammer that I highly recommend following. You’ll find a bit of everything on her account: great cafes, taco stands, high-end restaurants, cool street art, and beautiful architecture from around Mexico City.

Mikyalanis

@mikyalanis is a huge account with excellent photographer from around the city. It’s definitely one of the more artistic accounts on the list, but if you want to see Mexico City from a different perspective, this Instagram account is pretty fantastic. Following this account has actually really helped me with my city photography by helping me think outside the box when it comes to photographing buildings and cityscapes. You’ll be able to see where many of the locations are as they are tagged in each photo.

Mexico City Streets

As the name might suggest, @mexicocitystreets is all about the street photography in Mexico City. Lydia really captures life in this chaotic yet amazing city so well. You get a sense of the people, the food, the culture, the colors and so much more from her photos and captions.

Chilangas Hambrientas

Foodies should drop everything and follow @chilangashambrientas on Instagram right now. The photos are fantastic and I have discovered so many great restaurants around Mexico City ever since I began following their account a few months ago. It’s focused mainly on the higher-end of food in Mexico City, but they do post the odd bit of street food on here. Be warned, scrolling through their account will make you VERY hungry.

The Curious Mexican

Another amazing food blogger to follow on Instagram is Anais of @thecuriousmexican. If you want to learn more about Mexican cuisine at all levels from the street to the fine dining restaurants of the city, you should follow this account. Her Instagram stories are some of my favorites to watch not only on this list, but of all of the people I follow on Instagram. She’s constantly exploring different street stalls, cooking styles, and speaking to locals chefs which I find endlessly fascinating.

Malupenella

For a very colorful look at Mexico City and the surrounding region, follow @malupenella. I love her vibrant photography and seeing her perspective of the city. Sometimes I can’t even believe the places she finds. This is definitely the account to follow if you want to find all of the most colorful and photogenic areas in the city.

Mexico Retold

@mexicoretold was one of the first people I started following when I first moved to Mexico City. Susannah’s photos are varied and her aim is to show you a side of Mexico you’ve probably never known before. She is incredibly passionate about the country as a whole and calls Mexico City home, so you can imagine how she must feel about the city. I enjoy her Instagram stories a lot – she seems to be constantly exploring a different neighborhood, restaurant, park, or museum. I usually end up taking a screenshot of her stories so that I can remember to visit the stunning places she mentions around the city.

Eternal Expat

Okay, I mean, I couldn’t make a list about Mexico City Instagrammers and not add a shameless plug! I love sharing photos of this beautiful city and have started making a real effort to share tons on Instagram stories. You can even access my old Mexico City Instagram stories on my profile page to find all of my favorite taco spots, bars, and cafes. You can find me @eternalexpat.
