Doing your yoga teacher training in Mexico is one of the more affordable and beautiful places to do it.
I have been thinking about doing further yoga teacher training in Mexico ever since I moved here almost six years ago. Is there anything dreamier than learning to be a yoga teacher in a warm place while also enjoying a peaceful time by the ocean?
I’ve considered doing yoga teacher training in Costa Rica and even back in the US, but when it comes to price sensitivity, I’ve found that you can get a course of the same quality for a much lower price, especially if you are happy to skip out on the popular spots like Tulum or Puerto Vallarta.
I also think, for those that don’t visit Mexico often or perhaps have only been to the big resort areas, that these retreats are an amazing way to get to know lesser-known places around Mexico in a safe environment.
After checking the prices and listings on different websites, I have found Book Yoga Retreats to have the largest selection of courses in Mexico.
Best Yoga Teacher Training Mexico
I have ordered the courses from least to most expensive and have only included courses that have a minimum of 4.5 out of 5 stars.
All of the courses are either 100 or 200-hour courses which are the standard for building towards your 500-hour certification and then being able to go back to your home country and begin your career as a yoga instructor.
I have added a few “extra” courses at the bottom of the list that are only a few days long and allow you to further your knowledge of a particular yoga practice. They are still instructional courses and you receive a certificate once you complete these courses, too.
All of the courses that I’ve listed are taught in English.

Packing for Yoga Training in Mexico
Figuring out what to wear in Mexico depends largely on what location you plan to do your yoga teacher training in.
In some places like Chiapas, especially in winter, comfortable yoga pants are your best option.
However, if you plan to do a course by the beach in Tulum or Baja, there’s no way you’re going to want to bring pants. Instead, you’ll want to consider practicing yoga in yoga shorts or looser linen pieces. Check out the Cancun packing list here or the Tulum packing list here.
I highly recommend, before packing for your trip, that you ask the school where you’ll be training what they recommend and what the temperatures will be like where you’re going.
While some of these places are luxurious and have air conditioning and comfortable rooms, others are incredibly basic and will simply have fans. You’ll likely spend most of your time outside, so you want to make sure you’re comfortable.
