Weather in Mexico in February: A Guide to Different Regions

Sharing is caring!

The weather in Mexico in February brings warm sun, fresh air, and blue skies so plan your trip and head down south.

February in North America can tend to get cold and in many cases, snowy and icy. So this is a great month to escape reality and take a vacation to warm sunny Mexico.

Of course, the weather in Mexico in February will be different from city to city. From north to south, and from inland to the coast you can expect many different climates.

Places like Puerto Vallarta or Sayulita on the Pacific coast offer beautiful warm sunny days and fresh ocean breezy evenings. A trip to Mexico City will bring a mild fall-like feel. And in the Caribbean, grab that bikini because it’s a great month to be at the beach.

This article is your perfect guide to the weather in Mexico in a variety of different popular cities across the country.

Whether you are looking to spend your time at the beach, explore culture-packed cities, or take a surfing trip, this guide has all of Mexico’s weather details ready for you.

A Quick Overview: Weather in Mexico in February

Now before exploring Mexico region by region, let’s get to know what type of weather you will expect in Mexico in February.

The first thing that comes to mind when we think of Mexico is beaches, margaritas, and lazy days spent in the sun (maybe I’ve been listening to too much Kenny Chesney!). When it comes to coastal destinations of Mexico, this is absolutely true.

However, the center of Mexico and the north of Mexico bring different situations. You will find colder temperatures and crisper air in places like Chihuahua or Monterrey.  Don’t expect to find the same weather in these regions as you will likely find in Puerto Vallarta.

Generally speaking the weather in Mexico in February is significantly warmer than a cold Canadian or European winter

In Mexico, it is rare to find daytime temperatures below the freezing point.

In the Caribbean and Pacific Coasts, snow is unheard of.

In Mexico City, you will not find snow in the city itself but in the surrounding mountain ranges it is not uncommon to see snow-covered mountain peaks. There are a few places up north such as Durango and Chihuahua that do receive snow in the winter months.

In the evening, the air cools off as the sun goes down so packing a light jacket will be a great idea to keep warm, especially if you are out and about in the night. Check out our full Mexico City packing list to make sure you are ready for whenever you decide to visit.
