Pros

It’s Hard to Beat the View. There is nothing better than the scenic route, which is one of the biggest draws for RV road trips. Instead of buzzing by some of the prettiest sights or flying over them and missing the views completely, you’ll be able to stop and take your time in every location. This is particularly wonderful for photographers and those who really know how to stop and smell the roses, as there are plenty of opportunities to soak in the journey at your own pace.

No Packing and Unpacking at Every Destination. When you’re traveling to multiple places, it can get pretty exhausting having to pack and unpack your suitcase at every stop. Plus, having to worry if you’ve left anything behind at your last hotel can be quite stressful. One of the best things about owning your own RV is all you have to do is move in once and move out just one time at the end of your trip. There’s no need to hull big bags around an airport or around the city as you hunt for your next place to stay, you get to have it all in one place for the entirety of your trip.

Save Money on Food and Overnight Stays. It’s no secret that by taking an RV trip, you’re bound to save a lot of money on hotel and food expenses. Having a kitchen inside your camper means you can buy things in bulk and cook on the go and enjoy those leftovers at your next stop.

Cons

Fuel Costs Can Be Expensive. Depending on the length of your road trip, gas can be rather expensive. If you’re planning on being away from home for several weeks, be sure to save up enough money to cover that cost. It would be terrible to get stuck somewhere in a city far away from home. This is another reason it’s good to ask about gas mileage when window shopping at RV dealers in PA or VA, or whatever state you live in.

Sleep Comfort. The beds inside any RVs aren’t always as comfortable as the big beds in a hotel room, so if your sleeping quarters aren’t at least decent then you run of the risk of getting low quality sleep for a long period of time.

Not Much Privacy. Even though you get to enjoy the comfort of being inside your own space in the RV itself, the campgrounds are often busy and shared spaces can be packed with other visitors. This can be a little discouraging, especially during the warmer months, when there is also a chance of RV resorts and campgrounds being full.
